Once There Was a Creek

Here are some early maps of the area, scaled and aligned for comparitive viewing.

This page allows you to examine old maps against modern satellite images, to see where the creek and canal lay with respect to current terrain. The 1873 sewer network is also of note.

Goose Creek once flowed through the land later known as the District of Columbia. When this was designated the capital of the new nation, the creek was renamed Tiber Creek, in reference to the river flowing through Rome.
